Intrapology is an interactive hybrid show that makes heavy use of video calling and requires audience members’ phones to have access to the internet. It can be performed with one or more actor on stage, or with all actors joining remotely via video call.
The software used for the performance can facilitate simultaneous interpretation, including sign language. Subtitles are built into the design, and can also be provided in another language, if desired.
One month before the performance
- Test the internet connection from the stage, and provide estimates of speed and bandwidth.
- Provide the technical specifications of the screen or projector that will be used to show audience members the video call (see details below)
- Likewise, if a laptop will be provided by the venue to connect to the screen or projector, provide its technical specifications
- Inform the artist of any access features that the venue or festival will provide during the show, e.g. sign language interpretation.
- Inform the artist of any additional features that will be required, such as subtitles in another language.
- Inform the artist of the technical support that will be provided on site during the performance, e.g. sound technicians.
- Connect any relevant partners or serivice providers to the artist and their admin support worker.
One week before the performance
- If there is any possibility that the internet connection will not be strong enough, arrange a backup option e.g. 5G dongle.
- Send the web app url, accessibility information, and content warnings to all ticketholders; send this again the day before the performance
- If possible, facilitate a technical rehearsal in the space with a technical setup representative of the performance itself.
During the performance
- Bandwidth: 200 kbps x audience size, + 4.0 mbps
- A large screen visible to the audience, which will show the video call and English subtitles
- A speaker system audible to the audience
- If any actors are on stage, sound technicians will have to find a workaround to prevent echo or feedback between the actor’s laptop and the speakers
